The lyrics "I'm on my way home and I'm worn to the bone. Although this song and Someday (OK) share the same sort of hopeful love story, this song is more dramatic and deeper. This is a good example of how he can suddenly change the moods of his songs. The next song is called I Find the Light In You. If you're in a good mood this is a good song to listen to. The instrumental is just as fun and cutesy with the strumming pattern in the beginning and relaxed beat. Sun's back and he's scratching your back for me." and "Wake you up from a nice dream to take you out for an ice cream, spend the day on a ferris wheel by the sea." I mean, how can you NOT smile?! It's just so cute. For example the first few lines of the song "Waking up on a Monday and treating it like a Sunday. It's just one of those songs that make you smile if you listen to the lyrics. This song makes me want to go skipping in the flowers. The first song on the album is called Someday (OK). He has a nice voice, easy to listen to for whatever sound he's going for. I love how he can create such light and airy songs and then totally switch directions and give you a deep passionate song. I really like all the songs on this album, (Too bad there are only six! Totally would have loved to hear more of the style he executes) and I think they are unique when compared to the rest of his music. I couldn't really decide on a specific song so I'm just going to cover two of the songs from his second album, A Reason To Swim. So I've been listening to one of my favorite artists Joe Brooks earlier songs on repeat. Acquaintances? Friends? Whatever the case, you're here, reading my blog. If you want to listen to these songs you can find them on Spotify. It just shows the music industry and it's listeners that yes, you can write a song about virtually anything. I've always thought that any song that can get stuck in someone's head by simply hearing a short riff of it has to be given credit to. absolutely jibberish, it's catchy! Admit it, you've danced to it. You've hated yourself for listening to it more than once. I'm sorry for this next paragraph, I couldn't help myself. (Not that I don't jam out to those songs either, I do.) It's refreshing to hear a song that doesn't sound like anything that's being played every five seconds on the radio. Synths, electronic sound effects, clashing chords, unique voices, strange lyrics, metaphors. Don't get me wrong I love a fun cookie-cutter T-Swizzle song, but if you don't expand your musical taste beyond that then you'll never truly hear music. Now before you stop and say "this is a freaky weird song." Don't say it. I can't figure it out for the life of me. So to be completely honest here, I have no idea what this song is about. Sometimes I get caught up in talking about a song that I write more then I intend to.Īnyhow, the next song I want to talk about is Alien Days by MGMT. Again, if you haven't noticed, I love a good love song. The chorus of the song exudes the verbal irony explaining simply, we take the good things we have for granted, in this case, he takes the love of this girl for granted. If you haven't noticed already, I love me some good figurative language. It almost reminds you of Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles in that it just has that "close your eyes and nod your head" effect when you hear it. Of course there's nothing to complicated about i, it's just the simplicity of it that really draws you in. I can't even begin to express how much I love a good hook at the beginning of a song this song starts off with a kick butt guitar riff. So yeah, thanks.įirst off let's talk about Let Her Go by Passenger. I've discovered some great songs recently and want to release the appreciation that's been balled up since I've found them!īefore I start I should give a shout out to those who introduced me to these songs. I wish I had more time to write because I have so much repressed passion for the freaking awesome music I've been listening to lately.
